About Your Stay
To tell you about Two Tickets To Paradise Cottage would be to tell you about Steve & Amie Mayes.
Amie’s childhood dream was to own a bed-and-breakfast by the beach. That passion and desire lead her in to the hospitality industry. With a 25+ year successful career in sales with Hilton hotels and numerous national awards she has been able to capture true hospitality. You will find that they have thought of everything you will need or want. Steve and Amie have prepared a place in paradise that you will enjoy like no other place on St Thomas.
Steve and Amie have done a lot of the work around the property since they purchased it, sight unseen in 2020 during Covid. Everything was replaced or remodeled in the cottage, pool, bar and all outdoor decks and stairs. It is truly is resort living, island style. A famous Caribbean artist recently toured their property and was quoted as saying “this place is like Swiss Family Robinson and Jimmy Buffet came together in one place”
Steve is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, painting, plumbing, electrical and basically keeping everything working around the property.
What you will see around the cottage? You’ll have a view of Hull Bay, Tropaco point and the Outer and Inner Brass islands. Looking north and east you will see the Atlantic ocean and tips of other islands down east end. Around the property you will see lots of sugar birds, hummingbirds, a few iguanas, a few chickens, roosters and cats that wander the island also. When the waves are up you can see the surfers from your balcony. Hull bay is the best spot for surfing on Saint Thomas. During the summer months the sunsets are very colorful and radiant on the north side from Hull bay as well. Please note that the property has stairs and steep inclines and may not be suitable for guests with physical limitations.

The Pool
The pool at Two Tickets To Paradise Cottage was just renovated in December 2021. The pool was resurfaced, added decorative turtle tiles on the bottom, converted to saltwater, added a huge light and a pool heater. (Heater can be used in winter by request – extra fee applies) The pool area has a very comfy cabana, bean bag chairs and other sitting areas so you can sit in the shade or sun no matter what time of the day.
Beach Gear Room
This is where you will find some great stuff to take to the beach. Chairs, table, umbrella, beach grill & accessories, snorkel fins and masks, floats, coolers and more.
Island Living
Living or visiting St Thomas has challenges unlike the mainland US. Our electricity grid is very undependable and power outages on the island are a common occurrence unfortunately. Many privately owned vacation rentals do not have backup power and thus you will experience power outages. Two Tickets To Paradise Cottage not only uses primarily solar panels for power we also have two Tesla power banks for back up power. The chances you will experience a power outage here is almost none. We do ask that you conserve our two primary resources; water and electricity by turning off when not in use.
The property has so many different places to relax and enjoy the scenery. You can hang out on the deck right outside your cottage with a beautiful 180° view. You may like to hang out in the hammock swinging in the shade reading a book with a view of the ocean. We have comfy chairs with shade on the deck by the pool, a cabana with a fan and pillows for comfort, or hang out at Reds rum roost your own private tiki bar. You will also find our connection to the internet super fast since Steve runs an online business from their island home. They have WiFi devices located at the bar, inside the cottage and covering the entire pool deck area with 100mbps upload speeds to make it easy to upload your vacation pics to social media. You can watch our smart 55″ tv at the bar with Netflix, Amazon Movies, Hulu and any other accounts you can log in to.
Your day of arrival.
Once you have landed at the airport and picked up your rental vehicle you can find our location by typing in Two Tickets To Paradise Cottage in your Apple iphone map or Google maps and that will get you to our general location. (Choose the long route from the airport, it will be easier and more scenic) Once you arrive in the area you will see a yellow paradise sign located at the intersection of Papaya Hill Road. (pole has name on it) You will proceed up Papaya Hill road and our driveway is the first one on the left. You will need to drive past the driveway and reverse to back into the driveway parking near the wall you will see.
When you arrive at the property Amie and Steve will give you a short walk-through getting you familiar with all that you have access to. This will include the pool, the bar and the cottage. If you need anything from them while you are here they can easily be reached by phone or they also have a doorbell to ring the private residence but otherwise you won’t see much of them around while you’re here. Steve and Amie have many friends on the island that own different types of boat, Jeep tour companies and can give you good referrals if needed.

Transportation
Getting around St Thomas is a little different than the mainland U.S. First off, we drive on the left side of the road. Other than that everything else is (pretty much) the same (laws etc). Our island roads are narrow with many turns, hills and switchbacks so you will only be going about 25-35mph most of the time. We don’t have Lyft and Uber on the island so if you don’t rent a Jeep or car you will be using the services of a private driver or taxi. Either one of those options can not only be expensive every time you go somewhere but you may spend a lot of time waiting for a ride. We highly suggest that you rent a vehicle to drive since we live on the residential side of the island not many taxis pass by this way. Once you are booked with us we will send you some recommendations for rentals.
Required minimum age of responsible guest is 25. No children under 13 years old. Maximum 4 guests. No smoking inside cottage.
You could stay somewhere else but you wouldn’t have all these amenities, and if you did, you would have to share them with other guests. Most AirBnB rentals on St Thomas are not much more than a concrete box condo with noisy neighbors and a small deck for enjoying the view. This is truly the most unique and coolest place you will have ever stayed on vacation.
